Jeanne M. (Charbonneaux) Tarrant April 14, 1930 - May 22, 2020

Jeanne Marie (Charbonneau) Tarrant died peacefully at the Penacook Place nursing home in Haverhill on May 22, 2020.

She born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Loretta and Alcid Charbonneau.  She met her husband of almost 66 years, Robert (Bob) Tarrant in Haverhill, marrying on June 10, 1954.  Shortly thereafter, they bought their first home in Newbury, in 1954, where they raised their four children.

Jeanne, primarily a homemaker for many years was a committed wife and mother.  She was Bob’s bookkeeper when he owned The Meat Shoppe in Newburyport, a cub scout den leader, Sunday school teacher at Saint Louis De Gonzague church in Newburyport and taught piano lessons. Later Jeanne worked as a teller at The Arlington Trust Bank.  In her early married years she enjoyed bowling. She was also an avid tennis player and golfer.  Bob and Jeanne enjoyed boating with their children and friends on the Parker River and at Crane’s Beach, where Jeanne would provide lavish meals.  In fact, Jeanne was an excellent cook and loved to host family and friends for dinner and holidays.  Everyone was always welcome.

In 1997, Bob and Jeanne sold their family home and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to retire.  They enjoyed many joyful years playing golf, socializing with friends, working at the Carolina Opry and hosting their growing family.

In 2012 they moved back to Merrimac, Massachusetts to be closer to family.

 

Jeanne is survived by her loving husband Bob of Haverhill and children, Robert Tarrant Jr. (Kathi Conroy) of Merrimac, Ma., Kathleen  Keegan (widowed from Ken) of Newburyport, Ma.,  Christine Redd (Matt) of Amherst, NH., and daughter in law Catherine Tarrant (Kevin) of Underhill, Vt.  She is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, Kayla Tarrant Tindle (Bob), Kyle Tarrant, Shanley Autz (Danny), Thomas Tarrant, Gus Tarrant, Tucker Tarrant, Haley Keegan, Sean Keegan, Kendall Keegan, Jessica Redd, Curtis Redd, and Ainsley Redd.  Jeanne is also survived by 2 Great Grandchildren, Daniel and Shea Autz. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, sister Lorraine Gagnon, brother, Alcid Charbonneau and Son Kevin Tarrant.

 

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Monday, June 1 at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. The family is requesting that in leu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
