Haverhill – Martin R. Collins, 86, passed away December 14, 2021 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Martin J. Collins and Alice M. (Hutt) Collins Currier. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, he attended Haverhill Schools and Haverhill Trade School. When Martin was young he would accompany his father on firewood deliveries throughout Haverhill. For years he could still remember the houses they delivered to. He also worked in the shoe industry at Hurley Shoe Factory and Allen Shoe Factory. For 33 years he worked with his nephew Jeffrey at Jade Lawn Sprinklers. Martin also worked at Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill. He loved country western music, horse racing and car races. Whenever he was able you could find him at one of his favorite places, the beach. Martin was everyone’s favorite uncle and he will be missed by all his family and friends.

Martin is survived by his brother, Leonard E. Collins and his wife Pauline of Lakeland, FL; his sister Avis J. Ragust of Seabrook, NH; and many nieces and nephews, Douglas M. Emerson, Jeffrey C. Emerson, Sr., Darlene M. Fisher, Gale L. Staples, Larry Collins, Avis Collins, Laura King, Kenneth Collins, Mark Ragust and Loreen Ruel; and many great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his nephews Alvan S. Emerson, Jr., Leonard E. Collins, Jr. and niece Karen Collins and siblings Mahlon Collins, Thelma Jodoin and Mildred Emerson.
