HAVERHILL, MA – Eleanor Dagianis, 97, wife of the late James Dagianis, passed away on Thursday, May 11 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a short illness.

Eleanor was born in Haverhill on August 17, 1925 to Costas and Rallou ( Handakis) Karekos.  Eleanor attended Haverhill High school, Class of 1943, after which she went on to Clark University, and then received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Harvard University, 1981. She worked for Western Electric for many years, and then as a cosmetologist, owning and operating Fashion Flair in Haverhill until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling all over the country in her retirement years.

Eleanor is survived by her son John Dagianis, MD and his wife Ann (Dobbins) Dagianis, MD, Hollis NH; grandchildren Matthew & wife Katherine, Nashua, NH, and Christina Dagianis, Haverhill; and great grandchildren Athena and Kallista, Nashua, NH; brother Steve Karekos, Tampa, FL, Lucy MacDougall, Bradford, and Dorothy Early and companion Bill Chase, Haverhill, and brother-in-law Daniel Sullivan, Haverhill, and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was predeceased by her siblings John Karekos, Mary Varonfakis, Christo Karekos, Peter Karekos, Betty Church and Patricia Sullivan.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, May 16 from 10AM to11:30AM at The Holy Apostles (Sts Peter and Paul) Greek Orthodox Church, 156 Winter Street, Haverhill.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30AM. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Ave., Haverhill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the homeless shelter, Emmaus House, 127 How St, Haverhill, MA 01830, or the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Haverhill, 55 Emerson St, Haverhill, MA 01830.
