NEWBURYPORT – Muriel A. McNair, 94, of Newburyport, died on Thursday, June 29, at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport.
Muriel was born on October 23, 1928 in Medford to Cleo and Phoebe (Sawyer) Short. She attended Medford public schools and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1946. Muriel worked as an insurance broker for Met-Life and American Mutual and was also a teacher. She traveled all over the world and loved being near the ocean and beaches. She especially loved her dogs Happy, Sassie and Missy. Muriel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Muriel is survived by her daughters Janice and her husband Roger Smith, Merrimac, MA and Marsha and her husband Peter Foye, Marion, MA. grandchildren Michelle Cook, Stacey Burke, Brianna Foye, Jarrod Smith, Jayme Smith-Waye, Melissa Belanger and Heather Fallon; and fourteen great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Muriel is predeceased by her husband Earle I. McNair, her daughter Arlene McNair; her sisters Virginia West, Elizabeth Short, Dorothea Schloesser and Enora Chalmers; and her granddaughter Kristina Sweet.
