METHUEN – Charlotte (Sedlmaier) Carlson, 92, of Methuen passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen.
Charlotte was born in Munich, Germany on July 18, 1932 to Josef and Amalia (Stolz) Sedlmaier. She attended secretarial school in, Munich, Germany, graduating from Volkschule Nymphenburg Community College. She worked for the American Army in Boblingen, Germany and there was married to her husband of 66 years Albert W. Carlson. They then moved to America in 1953, residing in Lynn from 1963 – 2004. She worked in Data processing and Banking, as both a Teller and Bank Manager. Charlotte served as the President of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 291 in Lynn, and was a founding member of the German American Club of the North Shore. Charlotte enjoyed ballroom dancing and German folk dancing; and she was a great baker and cook and was especially known for her potato salad and apple cakes. She was a phenomenal knitter and crocheter and was an avid collector of many things including stamps, hummel figures and commemorative plates. Above all she enjoyed spending time in her extensive flower and vegetable gardens.
Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children Harald Carlson and wife Lauren of Plymouth, Sonja Schwar of Easton, PA, Rolf Carlson and husband Stephen Gilman of Westwood, Kurt Carlson and wife Cindi of Hull, and Sandra Carlson of Methuen. She also leaves behind her brother Helmut Sedlmaier of Canberra, Australia, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Charlotte was predeceased by her loving husband Albert W. Carlson, her brothers Erich Stolz and Rolf Sedlmaier and her sister Selma Ratzow.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, March 31 from 10AM until 11AM followed by a funeral home chapel service at 11AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, MA.
