Atkinson, NH – Jonathan Joseph Bakalyar, 45, of Atkinson, NH, beloved husband of Lea P. (Hayden) Bakalyar, passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side at his residence after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell and raised in Dracut, he was the son of Robert S. Jr. and Evelyn L. (Levasseur) Bakalyar. Jonathan was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1990. He continued his education at Middlesex Community College earning his Associates Degree of Applied Science in Telecommunications Technology. From 1990 until 1996 Jonathan served in the U.S. Army National Guard, receiving the Army Achievement Medal among several other Commendations from his superiors. For over twenty-six years Jonathan was employed by the Verizon Telephone Company as a Journeyman Technician who supported his brothers and sisters as a member IBEW local 2321.

Jonathan was known for his great sense of humor and warm personality.  Dedication is a term sometimes overused, but first and foremost his dedication to his family was unending, and to his faith, friends, co-workers and company, unwavering. He possessed an infinite sense of adventure; if someone suggested an idea for something to do, his reply was a quick “I’m in “. He loved the outdoors, he was an avid runner and enjoyed hiking, and was a true New England Patriots fan. He cherished his road trips to Newburyport and Maine with his beloved wife, Lea and their son, Noah; memories his family will treasure forever.

He leaves his wife of twenty years, Lea P. (Hayden) Bakalyar, and their son, Noah, of Atkinson, NH, his parents, Robert S. Jr. and Evelyn L. (Levasseur) Bakalyar, of Dracut, two brothers; Robert S. Bakalyar III, of Marlborough, and Aaron Scott Bakalyar and his wife Lilli, of Beverly, he also leaves aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 AM at Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St. Bradford. Burial is private.
