Atkinson, NH – John William Dalrymple of Atkinson, NH passed away on September 9th at the age 83 after a courageous battle with Lymphoma.

John was born on October 3, 1938 in Cambridge, MA to the late Sumner W. Dalrymple and Catherine Frances (Jenkins) Dalrymple.

John attended Cambridge’s Rindge Tech High School playing varsity football, hockey, and tennis graduating in 1956. In 1960, he graduated from Boston University as a Biology major, and continued varsity hockey and tennis at the collegiate level. The Rindge Alumni Association named him to their Hall of Fame in 2013. John moved to Rhode Island in 1961, where he became a pharmaceutical salesman for the Upjohn Company. He worked for the A.T. Cross pen company starting with territory sales, and eventually becoming the National Sales Manager of Advertising Specialties. John continued working in the Specialty Advertising field until his retirement in 2002. In 2005, John and his wife, Susan, moved to Atkinson to become full-time “Team Nanny” for their grandsons Jack and Sam Krasnof. John also was known by a new name, “Ra”, short for Grandpa who wore the hats of cook, chauffeur, and coach. Throughout his life, John was an avid sailor, cyclist, competitive tennis player, amateur photographer, and gourmet chef. He loved to host holiday dinners in his home with multiple delicious courses.

John was married for 34 years to Susan J. (Gosselin) Dalrymple. His survivors include: stepdaughter Dr. Rebecca E. Krasnof and her husband, Bruce. Beloved grandsons Jack and Sam Krasnof and John’s dog Finnegan.

Funeral services and burial were private. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in John’s name.
