Kennebunkport, ME – Angelina Catanzaro Waitt, wife of the late Albert R. Waitt, Jr. passed away on Thursday, July 21st, just a few months short of her 102nd birthday.
She was the daughter of Pasquale and Maria Catanzaro of Haverhill. Known as “Angie,” she was a graduate of Haverhill High School and the MacIntosh Business School. A noted ball of energy, she enjoyed a 20 year career as a Secretary at Haverhill High School before working another 14 years for Dr. Remo Del Rosso of Haverhill. Along with her husband, Albert R Waitt Jr., she owned and operated a seasonal seafood restaurant, Chip’s Place, in Kennebunkport, Maine for 15 years. Angie was a member of Holy Angels parish in Plaistow and a volunteer for Hale and Merrimack Valley Hospital Auxiliaries. She enjoyed many recreational pursuits, from cooking and crosswords to Red Sox baseball. No visitor ever left her house without being well fed.
Angie is survived by her son, Albert R Waitt III, his wife Kimberly, and grandchildren, Sydney and Aaron Waitt. She was predeceased by her husband Albert R. Waitt, Jr. in 2017.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a calling hour on Tuesday, August 2 from 10:30AM until 11:30AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. I do not see an “in lieu of flowers…” comment in her obituary. Was there any charitable cause that your mom was connected with where we could make a donation in her memory? Thank you and take care. My two most vivid memories of her are both sports-related. The first dates back to the 1960s when she was in charge of ticketing for Haverhill High basketball and took me with her to the gym, enabling me to sit courtside at all Hillie games; the second were all those decades that she spent next to Uncle Al (both of whom loved you dearly) watching the Red Sox in the cozy confines of their den every summer.
