Bernardo Hernandez, Sr. September 12, 1933 - July 10, 2019

Haverhill – Bernardo Hernandez, Sr., 85, husband of Mercedes (Moreno) Hernandez, passed away July 10, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with his loving family by his side.

Born in Manatee, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Everardo and Luz Maria (Santana) Hernandez. Raised and educated in Puerto Rico, he came to the United States in 1952, settling in the Bronx, New York. In 1998, with his wife and family, he moved to Haverhill where he lived until his passing. Bernardo loved cars and enjoyed working on them his entire life. He loved to fix things and could be found tinkering around the house. He was a devoted husband father, grandfather and great grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Mercedes, he is survived by his children, Sally Hernandez of Haverhill; Bernardo Hernandez, Jr. and his wife Maribel of the Bronx, New York; Ezequiel Abreu of Haverhill; his step daughters, Yesenia Diaz and Cynthia Diaz of New York; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and three sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 16 from 9:30AM until 11:30AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
