Cheryl Ann DeMatteo, 60 January 27, 1962 - June 13, 2022

HAVERHILL – Cheryl Ann DeMatteo, 60, died on June 13, 2022, at Massachusetts General Hospital due to complications from a tragic automobile accident.

Cheryl was born in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Shirley (Paradis) DeMatteo and late Richard E. DeMatteo. Cheryl was educated in the Haverhill Public Schools.

Cheryl was a free spirit and wild child who lived her life, her way. Never would you find Cheryl without a giant smile, spunky attitude, fearless disposition, and thoughtful nature. At her core was a heart bigger than her personality and her value of sentimental memories defined her existence. Selfless and genuine, her constant handmade gifts and heartfelt trinkets brought the true meaning of love and gratitude to every life she touched. She will be sorely missed for her larger-than-life energy and her deep sincerity, from which she never wavered.

Cheryl is survived by her sister Dianne (Punky) M. DeMatteo and her long-time partner Bruce Lewis of New Bedford, MA; brother Richard D. DeMatteo and his long-time partner Barbara Nolan of Haverhill, MA; sister Maryann and her husband Richard F. Adams of Manchester, NH; as well as three nieces Taryn Marie “Angel” Adams, Jaimie (DeMatteo) Giarrusso, and Jessica (DeMatteo) Cyr; great niece  Alyssa, and great nephew, Giovanni; as well as her sister-in-law and dearest friend, Judy (DeMatteo) Giannone. She was also the beloved sister of the late David M. DeMatteo and adoring aunt of the late Mindy Marie Lagasse.

  5. Maryann says

Not a day goes by when I don’t think of you. Being estranged from you was heartbreaking for me and my family. It was a difficult choice but the right one given the circumstances. You were a fighter from day one and right up until your very last breath. You are resting peacefully, something I can honestly say you haven’t done in a very long time. You are with Mom, David, Mindy and all your loved ones taken too soon. Please continue to look down on your little Angel. She is looking up at you.
