Haverhill – Dorothy A. (Spaulding) Gilmore, 92, passed away August 16, 2021 at Penacook Place in Haverhill.

Born in Plaistow, NH on January 10, 1929 at her grandparents’ home to the late Wilmont “Bud” and Ruby (Faxon) Spaulding. She attended Haverhill schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1947. She was a member of the Haverhill High School Class Reunion Committee. Dorothy was a stay at home mother until her children attended school. At that time she worked in the Building Inspectors office for the City of Haverhill. She retired as head clerk after 14 years of service. Dorothy then worked as an account receivable clerk at Bradford College until their closing. She also worked for a few years at Opportunity Works in Newburyport and as clerk at election time at the Whittier and Nettle schools for many years. Dorothy had fond memories of summers spent at Burns Lake in Whitfield, NH with her parents and close cousins, Jean Spaulding Clement and Connie Spaulding Hosford, as well as her aunt and uncle Eston and Alice Spaulding. She spent time in later years in Florida and at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, ME with her husband Dick Gilmore, who was special to her.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Sharon Washington and her husband Barry of PA, Nancy Diamantopoulos and her husband Jim of Dracut, Michael Harris of Daytona, FL and Jane Harris-Fale and her husband Greg of Haverhill; her beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Meredith, Krissy, Ryan, Debbie, Stephen, Katie, Shannon, Lindsey, Andrew and many beloved great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Cliff Clarke and her husband Richard Gilmore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 20 at Sacred Heart Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, John Ward Avenue, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.     I had the great pleasure of getting to know Dot over the past 7 years. She was a truly remarkable woman who enriched my life in so many ways. I will always remember the fun chats we had in her apartment and the fun times she had with all of her friends at Haverhill Crossings. I will love and miss her forever.
