Dorothy I. Cantwell February 16, 1930 - August 9, 2019

Bradford – Dorothy I. Cantwell, 89, passed away August 9, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill with her loving family by her side.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Ellen (O’Rourke) Cantwell. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1948. Dorothy was employed for many years as the Bank Manager at Merrimac Valley Bank in Haverhill. After her retirement from the bank, she worked at the former New England Telephone for several years. Dorothy had a strong faith and was a communicant of All Saints Church. She enjoyed travelling to Ireland and loved to visit the Samoset in Rockport, ME with her family. An avid reader, she looked forward to eating out for lunch and dinner at her favorite restaurants. A devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers and sisters, George E. Cantwell of Wenham; Robert J. Cantwell and his wife Catherine of Haverhill; Erlene R. Dozibrin of Salem, NH; Sophie A. Murphy of North Andover; Patricia S. Ross of Bradford; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; sister in law, Loretta Cantwell of Monroe, NJ and brother in law, Foster Kneeland of Ocean Ridge, FL. She was predeceased by her brothers, Bernard J. Cantwell and William N. Cantwell, sisters Eleanor F. Kneeland, Arlene A. Lyons, Mary E. “Betty” Uele and Joan K. Lessard; sisters in law, Eleanor Cantwell, Helen Cantwell and brothers in law, Joseph Murphy, Theodore Dozibrin,  Frank Uele and Walter Lyons.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 13 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Wednesday morning in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00AM.     RIP Dorothy. You can now drive your car when ever you want and smoke all you want. Though we have been 1000 miles apart, I have thought of you often and how much fun you were. When ever I heard your name it brought a smile to my face. Good bye Dorothy. My Condolences to the family.
