Edward G. “Ted” Atwood October 21, 1932 - July 6, 2019

Hampton, NH – Edward G. “Ted” Atwood, 86, husband of Annie F. (Stewart) Atwood passed away July 6, 2019 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Ellery E. and Katherine L. (Gorman) Atwood. A graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1950, he also attended Norwich University in Vermont, West Point Academy in New York and received his degree from Merrimack College. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1956 and was honorably discharged. Ted was employed with Haverhill National Bank, Johnny’s Oil and was CEO of Pentucket Medical Associates until his retirement in 1995. He continued working as general manager until 2019. Ted was a member of the Haverhill Exchange Club for 30 years and served as Treasurer. He played football while attending West Point and remained an avid football fan his entire life. Ted enjoyed walking the beach with his dog. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Annie, Ted is survived by his children, Robert E. Atwood and his wife Siobhan of Haverhill; David Atwood and his wife Linda of Vienna, VA; Nancy J. Leclerc and her husband John of Haverhill; a sister, Julie Drake of Somerville; his grandchildren Lindsay Graham, Lauren Liebenow, Claudia Atwood, Erika Atwood, Jillian Atwood and Braeden Atwood; three great grandchildren; sister in law, Francesca Atwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Kathryn Norton, brother John “Jake” Atwood and brother in law Alvin Drake.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 11 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning in the funeral home at 10:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th St., Suite 609, New York, NY 10036, St. Jude’s  Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and MSPCA at Nevin’s Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
