Elaine P. (Colarusso) Fiske October 28, 1946 - July 23, 2020

Haverhill ā€“ Elaine (Colarusso) Fiske, 73, passed suddenly at her home in Haverhill on Thursday, July 23rd. She joins her husband Jeff, who died in May of 2019 just before celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Elaine, known as Mrs. Fiske, to hundreds of young children taught school in Tewksbury at the Healthbrook School. She truly loved her job and teaching to her was not a job but a passion. Along with teaching, she loved her cats. She was rarely seen sitting or sleeping without one of her beloved cats snuggled beside her. Elaine was a loving sister, friend and teacher and will be missed by many.

Elaine leaves her brother Philip Colarusso and his wife Dorothy of Salem, NH. She grew up in Medford and remained very close to her dear friends of nearly 70 years, Jane Rapallo Cassidy of Tewksbury and Alana Sullivan Anderson of Stoneham. She was predeceased by her parents, Enrico and Phyllis (Barrasso) Colarusso.

    Dear Philip and Dorothy,
We were so very saddened to hear of Elaine’s passing. We met Elaine and Jeff through a mutual teaching colleague, and came to enjoy their company on many occasions. Elaine was a friendly, vivacious lady who certainly loved her husband and all the school children she always talked about! She was so dedicated to her student’s education and well-being. She will be missed.

My deepest sympathies go out to the Colarusso and Fiske families. I knew Elaine as a colleague at the Heath Brook school for nearly a decade. I always admired her dedication and commitment to educating the children of Tewksbury. She oftentimes was in the school preparing lessons after 6:00 in the evening. She would then go home to prepare dinner for her beloved husband, Jeff. I can also recall the numerous trips to the stage performances in Boston with Elaine and a group of her friends. As Elaine is reunited with Jeff let it be known that she will be remembered for her exuberance and dedication in educating children.

I Recently saw in the Tewksbury Town Crier newspaper that Elaine Fiske passed away in July. Mrs. Fiske was my son’s 3rd grade teacher at the Heath Brook School. She was one of his most favorites teachers through all his schooling. He is now 30 and was very saddened to learn that she had passed away recently as I was also. I volunteered in her classroom every Friday of that year and chaperoned on field trips including going to see The Nutcracker at Christmas time. I had a fun year getting to know Elaine while working in her classroom. She was a wonderful teacher and truly enjoyed all her students. My son had a very difficult teacher for second grade that most students and parents weren’t happy with so it was a breath of fresh air when he had Elaine for his 3rd grade teacher. He opened up to her and became himself again after a difficult year with the other teacher. Elaine assured me he was just fine and she enjoyed talking to him and told me not to worry. Elaine was such a giving and loving teacher and I am so very glad my son had her for 3rd grade. All her students were very lucky to have her as a teacher. We have wonderful memories of my son really enjoying her classroom and i thoroughly enjoyed volunteering in her classroom. It was a fun year. My condolences to her family and friends. She will live on in many hearts and memories including ours. May she Rest in Peace with her beloved husband. Thank you for everything Mrs. Fiske!! You were a diamond of a teacher!! šŸ’•

  10. Bob & Brenda says

    Dear Philip & Dorothy,
I just learned today, Jan 8, 2022, by a fluke chance, of Elaine’s passing. Both myself & my Fiancee Brenda. became good friends with both Elaine & Jeff quite a while even before Jeff passed on. We met them both through dear close mutual friends in North Andover, Ma. Jeff always had us laughing our butts off and Elaine was such a joy too. We always loved seeing the lighted jewelry that Elaine wore during the holidays. For reasons beyond our control, we lost contact with them just before Jeff passed on. Brenda & I wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies & prayers to you and yours.
