Haverhill- Helen A. (Dichard) Batchelder, 89, passed away on July 1, 2022 in her home surrounded by her beloved family.

Born in Haverhill to the late Alfred and Helen (Hume) Dichard, she attended Haverhill public schools, graduating from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1950. For many years she was employed at the Georgetown Savings Bank.

Helen was a resident of Phoenix Row for the past twenty-two years. She was extremely active in the Haverhill community. She enjoyed going on many trips with all the friends she made while living there.  She was a past Worthy Matron and for over fifty years a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star Fidelity Chapter No.90 in Haverhill. She served as the treasurer for the Phoenix Row Board of Trustees. An avid reader; in her free time she enjoyed watching local sports, especially the Red Sox, playing cards, bowling, playing BINGO, holding bake sales and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. A loving mother and grandmother and great grandmother, her happiest moments were spent with her family.

She is survived by her sons Charles D. Batchelder III and his wife Patricia of Plaistow, Gregory O. Batchelder and his wife Jennifer of Atkinson; her daughters, Cheryl A. Johnson and her husband Steven of Surfside Beach, SC, Jan E. Batchelder of Ocala, FL, Laurie J. Feole and her husband Michael of Ocala, FL; 13 cherished grandchildren; Charles D. Batchelder IV, Brad Batchelder, Chelsey Carey, Stanley Ward III, Caitlyn Caruso, Morgan Batchelder, Kristin Asadorian, Elise Asadorian, Megan Kidder, Timothy Groves, Ashley Groves, Jeremy Groves, and Nicole Batchelder, sixteen great grandchildren and another due in August, her brother,  Lionel “Butch” Dichard and his wife, Jane of Haverhill, sisters; Mary Nelson and her husband Edward of Haverhill, Rita Vaiksnovis of Belleview, FL, Carol Boule and her husband Charles of Haverhill, and her sister in law Patricia Dichard of Merrimac and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Charles D. Batchelder Jr.; her daughter Diane M. Batchelder; her  brother, Alfred Dichard Jr., sister, Lucille Penta and her husband, Charles and her great niece, Jessica Penta.

    Helen was always a joy to work with at Georgetown Savings Bank. I remember her ever-present, welcoming smile. She was a hardworking LADY of great patience and grace. The world is a better place for having her in it. My condolences to her entire family. The world has lost a great woman.
