Jean (Boyer) Rose, 90 December 28, 1931 - August 15, 2022

Date of Funeral

August 26, 2022

Merrimac – H. Jean (Boyer) Rose, 90, passed away peacefully, her family having been at her side, on Monday August 15, 2022, at Hannah Dustin Health Care Center, Haverhill MA.

Jean was born in Merrimac MA, on December 28, 1931.  She was the daughter of the late Richard R Boyer and Hildred R (Trenholm) Boyer, originally from Montreal and Nova Scotia, Canada, respectively.

Jean was the loving mother of Lynda L. Samoisette and her late husband Robert K Samoisette, of Merrimac, MA, Diane P Welcome and her husband Douglas J Welcome of Haverhill, MA, Paula J. Rose of Merrimac, MA and Eric P. Rose of Manchester, NH.  She was predeceased by her former husband Paul E. Rose of Merrimac, MA.  Jean was also predeceased by her two brothers Richard R Boyer Jr and Gerald R Boyer Sr.  She was the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jean belonged to the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Merrimac, MA where she was active for many years.  Upon her move to Manchester NH Jean became a member of the First Congregational Church 508 Union St Manchester.

Jean worked at Calnan’s Drug Store in Merrimac, MA and later worked at The Medical Arts Pharmacy in Haverhill MA.  Jean also worked at the IRS in Andover, MA and the Visiting Nurses Association in Haverhill, Andover and Lawrence, MA

Jean’s true love was her family; she was always available to any of her children or grandchildren, or any family member, whenever she was needed, whether it was a struggle, celebration, or everyday life events. The beach was one of her favorite places when her children were young; there were many day trips to the beach. As years went by her time at the beach evolved into vacations and long walks were always a welcome reprieve for her, at any time.

As a homemaker she was impeccable and she took great pride in her home.  Jean learned to braid rugs and made pinch pleated draperies, which she learned from the late Edna Yelle, former shop owner in Merrimac MA.  The inside of her house is not where she stopped, her yard was also a source of pride, she planted shrubs and flowers, rode the tractor to mow the lawn and could chop wood with the best of them!!  She even stained her house one spring!

Jean could truly have been an interior decorator, she loved creating a beautiful haven for her family and her fashion sense was iconic. Jean was able to put together a seemingly effortless celebration whether it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon or Christmas day; they were all given her special touch; that we will forever be in awe of.

We will always remember our Mother’s, zest for life, it is something we all aspire to.
