DERRY, NH – Kathryn Marie (Lucey) Martin, 75, passed away on Saturday, February 22 following a brief illness and complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Born September 4, 1949, in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of Joseph P. and Doris A. (McKenzie) Lucey. A lifelong resident of Haverhill until recently moving to Derry, NH, she attended Saint James School, was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1967, and attended Northern Essex Community College.
Kathy was a devoted mother to her two children and served her community as an early childhood educator for more than 15 years with Haverhill Public Schools. Her greatest joys were her family, working with children, and dear friends. She enjoyed traveling throughout New England and attending live music performances with her husband Ernie, day trips to Newburyport and the Seacoast Region, cheering at her grandchildren’s many games, activities, and performances, and the simple pleasures of a good book or an outing to Starbucks for a hot chai, which became a weekly tradition with her oldest grandson.
She possessed a strong sense of social justice, a passion for fairness, and was never one to judge others. She was an always available confidant and a safe, loving counsel for her niece, nephews, and friends.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Nichole Martin Reimer, her husband Mark, and grandchildren Lukas, Cade, and Allison Reimer of Derry, NH; and son Adam J. Martin, his wife Jewell, and grandchildren Olivia and Camille Martin of Silver Spring, MD, siblings Patrick Lucey and Sandra Melanson of Florida, and her niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of more than 33 years Ernest L. Martin, her parents Joseph and Doris Lucey, mother-in-law Virginia Martin, and nephew Matthew P. Lucey. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (www.michaeljfox.org) or Emmaus House (https://emmausinc.org).
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 29 at 10 AM at St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial to follow at St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Please visit www.comeaufuneral.com or Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook.

February 27, 2025 at 6:33 pmPlease accept my sincere condolences. I loved bumping into Kathy at Pizzazze and catching up. She was always talking about her wonderful kids and grandchildren. I met Adam at Bartlett School many years ago. Nicole and Adam were raised by two wonderful parents and their legacy will live on.
