Kelsey Marie Wood, 38 March 27, 1985 - June 9, 2023

Date of Funeral

August 10, 2023

MALDEN, MA – Kelsey Marie Wood, 38, passed away at her home on Friday June 9, 2023.

Kelsey was born on March 27, 1985 in Beverly, MA . The youngest of 2 children, she attended Merrimac public schools and was a graduate of Pentucket High School, Class of 2003. Kelsey later attended Northern Essex Community College and most recently, went on to study creative writing at SNHU.

Kelsey was adventurous, fun loving, had a great sense of humor and tack-sharp wit. She dazzled everyone with her comedic personality and her love of made-up words! During her years in Haverhill, she was also deeply loyal to her “boy” Spinney – the 2 of them were inseparable. She would regularly sneak him snacks he shouldn’t have and let him sleep in her bed, which she wasn’t supposed to do – but Spinney was her partner in crime at that time and nothing was off-limits to him when it was up to her.

Kelsey was also lucky enough to have traveled the world with her Auntie Kathy (ask her for some stories of their adventures together, but brace yourself for belly laughs!) and she even seized the opportunity to travel with some of her dear friends when she was younger. On one such (unforgettable) trip, Kerry and Kelsey terrorized London, Paris and Rome – which is what they did best together! Absolute terror and “seedy” behavior!

True to Kelsey’s love of comedy and drama – on another memorable day long ago when they were all much younger, Jaime, Kelsey, and her sister Christine, made an infamous music video to “Don’t Pull Your Love”, which has never once failed to elicit tears of hilarity from everyone who has seen it. Kelsey had a way of adding that little bit of magic to everything creative!

In February of 2011, her daughter Vivian was born and it was the happiest day of Kelsey and Mitchell’s lives. Vivian is a bright light. She is a gift that Kelsey gave to us all who are lucky enough to know her. Vivian is smart, sensitive, creative, and dramatic – she was born to be on stage! She’s a true animal lover like her mother, with her especially deep passion for dogs and horses. Kelsey was so proud of Vivian – and we know that she will be watching as Vivian grows and learns and gives us all even more reasons to be proud of her in the coming years.

From a young age, Kelsey’s favorite TV show was “The Golden Girls”, and she was known to sing the theme song regularly, especially after calls with her beloved Grandmother, Mary Jane, who was the shining star in her life. They brought joy to each other and their bond was truly special. Her Aunts Susan and Jeannie were near and dear to her heart and were a large part of her life as well. They provided love, advice and support throughout the years, and Kelsey brought them to tears with laughter on a regular basis. Kelsey spread her unique brand of charm wherever she went, and her family was a willing and captive audience!

Her best friend to this day, Krystal, still spoke to Kelsey daily, and their love for each other was deep and unparalleled and true. Mitchell, her love, her husband, was by her side through thick and thin and was with her to the very last day.

Kelsey was magnetic and curious. She had a spectacularly brilliant mind and was a woman of many talents. Among other things, she was an avid reader, a truly gifted writer and artist and she will be dearly missed.

Kelsey is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years Mitchell D. Potts, Malden, MA; her parents Joellen (Lane) Camarato, Haverhill, MA, and John A. Wood, Boston, MA; her daughter Vivian Isabella Potts, also of Haverhill, MA; and her grandparents Charles and Mary Jane Lane, Rockport, MA. She is also survived by a sister Christine E. Wood and her boyfriend Jason Solomon, Cresco, PA, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
