Haverhill – Richard David Ethier, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022 in Haverhill.

He was born in Haverhill on December 20, 1939 to Ida Marie (Cote) and Charles Eugene Ethier, Sr. He attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School. After high school he served in the U.S. Army National Guard with stints at Fort Dix and Fort Jackson. One of his earliest jobs was working for Al’s Pizza in Haverhill and for the rest of his life he would fondly reminisce about his time there. A skilled machine operator, he worked at Liberty Shoe, Allan Shoe, and Colonial Shoe. From 1962-1968 he worked at Western Electric and from 1968-1993 he worked for Borden Chemical.

Richard was a man of strong faith and a proud member of St. James Parish. He had a great sense of humor.  He loved to play cards, especially 45’s, listen to “The King” Elvis Presley, and watch Tom Brady, whom Richard loved to let everyone know “is the Greatest Quarterback that ever lived!!!”.

Richard leaves behind a brother, Charles Ethier, Jr. and close niece Crystal Nolet. Three sons; Richard, Steven, and Brian Ethier along with their families.  Richard leaves behind close family friends, the Roberts and Therrien families.  He was known as “Grampie” to many; including Jeffrey and Patrick Roberts, Kyle Therrien, and Matt Marshall.

Richard was predeceased by his brother Paul Ethier; his sisters Sicille Delgrasso, Gloria Packard, Claire Willet, Juliette Belin, Dorothy Casey, and Irene Cherrise; and his sweetheart, Barbie Therrien.
