Date of Funeral

April 7, 2024

WISCONSIN, formally of HAVERHILL – Richard Edward Hamilton passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, following a short illness. Rich was a strong yet gentle man who faced his challenges with courage, hope, tenacity, and ultimately with the wisdom that it was his time to pass.

Rich is survived by his son Ryan Hamilton, whom he loved more than anyone else in this world.  He is the son of Helen Marie (Bailly) Hamilton and the late Leo John Hamilton of Salem, NH. He is also survived by his siblings Jane Clarke and her husband Dan of Salem, MA; Joseph Hamilton and his wife Kathy of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Arthur Hamilton and his wife Sheila of Salem, NH; Margaret Solon and her husband Gib of Ascutney, VT; Leo Hamilton and his partner Judy Long of Haverhill, MA; Raymond Hamilton and his wife Jackie of Cheyenne, WY; Maria Hamilton and her husband Jim of Andover MA; Matthew Hamilton of Plaistow, NH; Helen Fitzgerald and her husband Scott of Haverhill, MA; Patrick Hamilton and his partner Cathy Jerome of Plaistow, NH;  Frederick Hamilton and his wife Patricia of Dunstable, MA; Christine Guarino and her partner George Warner of Plaistow, NH; and Maura Hamilton of Cambridge, MA. Additionally, he leaves behind many, many loving nieces and nephews and close friends. He will be remembered as a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rich was born in Haverhill, MA where he lived for much of his childhood before the family moved to Salem, NH. He graduated from Salem High School and then worked nights to put himself through Bradford College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. Rich lived in Illinois and Arizona before settling in Wisconsin. He worked at Wells Fargo for over 20 years as a Retail Auto Relationship Manager, overseeing the area from Northern Milwaukee to Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Rich considered his greatest role to be that of father to Ryan. He cherished every minute of time they spent together. They shared all of life’s ups and downs as only a father and son can.  Between first cars and road trips, they packed in as much life as was possible in the time they had together. Their bond will never be broken.  He leaves his son a legacy of love, laughter, strength, compassion, and treasured memories.

Rich embraced his Irish heritage, through and through. He loved to laugh and joke around, and he was blessed with the gift of gab. He thoroughly enjoyed his deep and varied conversations with friends, family, and coworkers. As only someone from a large family can, he could talk to anyone about anything. Rich was also highly athletic, enjoying everything from body surfing and tag football at the beach to 5am ice hockey games at the rink with family and friends. He was a fan of all Boston sports teams and enjoyed music, travel, and the beach. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.  May his holy soul be at the right side of God.
