Haverhill – Robert D. Wilks, 86, passed away August 27, 2020 at Benchmark Senior Living at Haverhill Crossing in Haverhill.
Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late Randolph and Florence (Leitch) Wilks. Raised in Boston, he attended Boston Latin School and Boston College. He served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War on the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. Robert was employed in the banking industry as a check fraud investigator for Shawmut Bank until his retirement. An eternal optimist who possessed an unwavering faith in God’s plan, he was non-judgmental and accepted all people for who they were. He was a very happy man, with deep love for his three daughters and six grandchildren. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his former wife and mother of his children Milly Wilks, his daughters Sharon W. Burke and her husband Matthew of Atkinson, NH; Kathryn W. Gustafson and her husband Kraig of Waltham; Lauren A. Wilks and her partner Kevin Godosky of Derry, NH; six grandchildren, Daniel Burke, Jonathan Burke and his fiancée Katrina Balakin, Diana Burke, Kaily Burke, Anders Gustafson and Kerin Gustafson. He is also survived by his siblings, Freddy, Edith Shea, and Barbara Macinni. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Olga, Ray, Randy, George, Kenneth, John, Louis, Eva Toelkes, and Florence Mason.
