Robert W. Landers August 10, 1926 - December 8, 2020

Haverhill – Robert W. Landers, 94, husband of Jean R. (Moulaison) Landers, passed away December 8, 2020 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Malden, he was the son of Chester B. and Bessie M. (Patterson) Landers. Bob grew up in Malden where he met his wife of 70 years, Jean, also of Malden.  They married in 1950 after he served four years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  Bob built their first home on Penny Hill Rd, Melrose and he continued to be a very hard worker all his life and a consistent provider for his wife and five children.  He owned and operated Bob Landers Roofing & Siding and in his early 40s bought his first lobster boat and fished for 20 years out of the Saugus River.  He was highly regarded by many friends made over the years, and always loved to tell his stories of his time serving in World War II and other life experiences. Bob was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit and always ready with a joke.

Throughout their life, Bob and Jean frequently traveled to Tusket, Yarmouth County,Nova Scotia to visit Jean’s family and the local fishing villages. In retirement, they enjoyed living in the country in Erving, MA and taking regular trips to Hoyt, New Brunswick, Canada, where he spent many childhood summers and ultimately rebuilt his mother’s summer cabin to a year-round home. For the past several years, he and Jean have been living in Haverhill, MA with family, where he made fast friends of many supportive neighbors.

He is survived by his wife Jean and his children, Linda R. Morris and her husband Raymie; Robert S. Landers and his wife Diane; Gary E. Landers and his wife Judy; Joyce M. Landers and her spouse Catherine Hill; daughter in law Eleanor Landers; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James J. Landers and four siblings, Eleanor Carter, Chester Landers, Roger Landers and Marjorie Doty.
