Roy E. Canning December 27, 1956 - April 13, 2021

Haverhill – Roy E. Canning, 64, husband of Catherine (McCarron) Canning, passed away April 13, 2021 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a short illness.

Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Margaret A. (Walsh) Canning. Raised and educated in Malden, he was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1975. With his family, he moved to Haverhill in 2008 and lived there until his passing. Roy was an auto mechanic at Sears Auto in Saugus for 40 years. He also worked at Boston Harley and Seacoast Harley as a detailer. Roy loved riding his Harley and attended “The Vous” in New York, a motorcycle Rendevous club with his sons. He enjoyed hosting everyone at his home and every Halloween, which was his favorite holiday, he built a haunted house for all the neighborhood children. Roy played Santa Claus for Catholic Charities as well. He was a Scout Master while his sons were in Boy Scouts while living in Everett. A loving husband and father, he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Catherine and his sons, Daniel R. Canning and Michael E. Canning, both of Haverhill; his sister, Patricia Pesce and her husband Carmine of Mooresville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, April 18 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 165 So. Main Street, Haverhill on Monday.     My heart is broken. My Uncle Roy was the best there is! There is so much I could say but the words don’t seem like enough. I will miss him so much and what could have been to come.
