Vincent P. Antanavich, 79 April 12, 1943 - October 7, 2022

Date of Funeral

October 24, 2022

Vincent P. Antanavich, 79, a longtime resident of Lawrence, MA, and more recently of Bradford, MA, died October 7  , 2022,  after dealing with the effects of a rare progressive form of cerebral palsy his entire life.

Born in Lawrence on April 12, 1943, to the late Joseph and Amelia (Pukinas) Antanavich, Vincent graduated with high honors from Lawrence High School and worked for over forty years as a draftsman and designer for Lawrence Pumps until his retirement at age 65. Vincent was brilliant, talented, stubborn, and fiercely independent. He was a member of St. Francis and St. Patrick parishes in Lawrence.

While living at the family home in Lawrence, Vincent enjoyed feeding and observing wild birds, woodworking, and driving his prized 1973 Mustang fastback which he kept in pristine condition. When his increasing disability prevented him from operating a standard shift, Vincent sold his Mustang and purchased a new 1991 Thunderbird and had it equipped with hand controls so that he could continue driving.

In May of 2011, Vincent fulfilled his dream of home ownership when he purchased his Bradford home. Vincent enjoyed perusing catalogs and purchasing furnishings and other items for his home, as well as unique toys for his now four-year-old grandnephew Noah.

Vincent will be missed and fondly remembered by his two brothers and their families: older brother Joseph F Antanavich of Andover (whose wife Carol died in 2011) and their daughters Sharon Darymple and her husband George and daughters Samantha and Lindsey of Texas, and Stephanie Cugno and her daughters Alyssa and Abigail of Danville, NH; and younger brother Bernard P Antanavich and his wife Susanne of Atkinson, NH, and their daughters Elisabeth Russell and her husband Curtis of Rockport, MA, and Emilie Palladino and her son Noah of Atkinson, NH. Vincent is also survived by several cousins.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who loved Vincent. I met him in the first grade at the Wetherbee School and continued with him through graduation from Lawrence High. He was the kindest most gentle person I have ever met and respected and loved by all his peers. I only wish that I was able to get to know him better. God Bless you all.

I met him years ago when he used to go to St Patricks in Lawrence and lived on Salem St. He was dedicated to his mother. He was an amazing person who was always very positive. RIP Vincent

Vincent was always a pleasure to transport to his appointments on my van. He made the trip enjoyable with all his stories and knowledge of birds and trees and anything, actually!
    Rest In Peace my friend.
