Evelyn (Wholley) Clausnitzer

Haverhill – Evelyn (Wholley) Clausnitzer, 91 wife of the late Walter A. Clausnitzer, passed away August 31, 2021 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA with her family by her side.

Born in Haverhill, MA on September 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Ida (Boucher) Wholley.  Raised and educated in the Haverhill school system, she attended Haverhill High School.  In her younger years, she worked at Liggett’s Drug Store soda fountain where she would eventually meet her future husband, Walter.  Evelyn and Walter married in 1953 and together raised their three children in Haverhill.  She was employed for 25 years at the Raytheon Company, until her retirement.  She was a volunteer at Merrimack Valley Hospital for a number of years.

She enjoyed bowling, sewing, quilting and baking.  She especially loved spending time with her family.  Evelyn often traveled to Martha’s Vineyard to spend time with her brothers.  She loved to travel, and after her retirement traveled all over the world.  Family was everything to Evelyn who enjoyed all the family get-togethers with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Evelyn is survived by her two brothers, Norman Wholley of Stanford, CT and Robert Wholley and his wife Priscilla of Yarmouth, MA; her three children, Mary Arsenault of Candia, NH; Elaine Duke and her husband Larry of Atkinson, NH; Thomas Clausnitzer of Derry, NH; grandchildren, Ronni Summerton and her husband Glen, Bradford Arsenault, Mark Arsenault, Brandon Duke and Kimberly Duke; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Brent Summerton; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, September 20 from 10:00AM until 11:30AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill, MA.  A funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30AM will follow. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, No. Broadway, Haverhill.     Bob and I are deeply saddened at the news of Shawn’s passing. He was an amazing young man. We will always remember the many special times with Shawn and the family in his early childhood years.     I’ll always remember her good nature and her infectious laugh, as well as her dedication to her health. Our youngest daughter reminds me of her. She will be missed.
