Catherine M. (McGravey) Montibello

Haverhill – Catherine M. (McGravey) Montibello, 98, wife of the late Lawrence E. Montibello, Sr. who passed in 2014, passed away April 13, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary E. (Gaudete) McGravey. She attended St. Mary’s Girl School in Lawrence and graduated in the Class of 1942. She was very proud of being the spelling champion for her school in her graduating year. After graduation she worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard during World War II. Kay, as she was known, married the love of her life on August 18, 1946 and together they raised ten loving children. Kay had a strong and enduring faith which was her life and which she passed along to her children. She was very active in her church, St. James, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Sodality. After retirement, with her husband, she enjoyed spending winters in the Bahamas. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kay is survived by her children, Lawrence E. Montibello Jr. and his wife Monice, Lynne C. Montibello and David D. Montibello, all of Haverhill, Catherine P. Berube and her husband David of Virginia, Thomas M. Montibello and his wife Linda of Florida, Joseph P. Montibello and his wife Deborah, of Haverhill, Mary C. Jones and her husband Jay of Florida, Ellen M. Cassidy and her husband John of Lawrence, Jean A. Arau and her husband Douglas of Haverhill and Stephen P. Montibello and his wife Ellen of Londonderry, NH; twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; brother Francis McGravey of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, James, Vincent, Raymond, Joseph and John McGravey, Patricia McCarty and Claire Lamond.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 22 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday morning, April 23 at 10:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00AM at St. James Church, Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose, St., Haverhill. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. James Church, 185 Winter St., Haverhill, 01830  or Liz Murphy Open Hand Pantry, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill 01830.     Jean,
    So sorry for the loss of your beloved Mother.
    Although I had the pleasure of meeting your Mom once, I felt as though I knew her, through all the stories you shared with me. I will miss that laughter.
    You were so lucky to have her as long as you did, and I truly believe that , because of your unselfishness, and care taking, along with your other family members, she got to live a good, long life.
