Harold Parker Strand, Jr., 78, of Salem, NH, formerly of Ipswich, Wilmington, and Malden, died Wednesday, June 29, at his home surrounded by his loving family.Born in Malden, December 12, 1932, he was the son of the late, Harold P. Strand, Sr., and Margaret (Vidler). He attended Malden Public Schools and was a Graduate of Malden High School and standout rifleman of the class of 1951. He and his wife would move to Wilmington to raise their children and later relocate to Ipswich, and finally Salem, NH, for the last five years.Mr. Strand was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Nothing came before family. A well respected businessman, he was the owner, C.E.O., and “chief wizard” of his surplus electronics company, Parker Products, located in Reading a natural born inventor and salesman, he could upcycle anything and is noted to be an early influencer of solar experimentation through his educational solar kits and solar demonstration music boxes. He was a respectful, thoughtful, and generous individual he had a humorous wit, and will be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to come in contact with him.He leaves his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Barbara A. (Minchin) Strand, of Salem, NH, two sons, Robert,of Billerica, David and his wife Kathleen,of Plum Island, two daughters, Judith DeMellia, and her husband, Michael, of Haverhill, and Pamela Strand, also of Haverhill, seven cherished grandchildren, James and Laura Strand, Kristen Cook, Tara and Michael DeMellia, Jr., and Olivia Strand, two great-grandchildren, Jack and Aiden, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Beane.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 2, at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 471 Main St. Haverhill. Calling hours will be held the evening before on Friday, July 1, from 4 until 8:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to the Aleppo Shriners transportation fund, 99 Fordham Rd. Wilmington, MA 01887-0578.
