Joan K. (MacInnis) Hanson, 64, formerly of Andover, died Thursday, July 30,2009 at the Tewksbury Hospital after a lengthy illness.Born in Lawrence she was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret C. (MacNichol) MacInnis. Raised in Andover she was a graduate of St. Augustine Grammar School and Andover High School Class of 1963. She relocated to Haverhill in 1976 with her two daughters Kathleen and Jennifer.Mrs. Hanson was employed as a clerk for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for over ten years until her illness forced her into an early retirement this past October. In previous years she held clerical positions in retail sales. An avid reader she enjoyed curling up to a good book and practicing her craft in the art of crewel.A devoted mother and grandmother she leaves her beloved daughters Kathleen J. Hanson and Jennifer A. Hanson both of Haverhill, three cherished grandchildren John P, Frantz K, Courtney A. Hanson all of Haverhill and a sister Margaret E. McInnis of Amesbury.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to an informal memorial gathering to take place at the family home on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 2 to 6 p.m. A private burial will take place in the family lot at Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill.
