Donald Lajoie

Donald J. Lajoie, 72, of Bradford, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Elephege (Larry) and Yvonne (Chapdelaine) Lajoie. He was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1954. Upon Graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War being honorably discharged in 1957. Mr. Lajoie was employed as a machinist for Lucent Technologies in North Andover for 35 years. He also owned Paw Print Antiques.He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Anderson) Lajoie, children, Donald J. Lajoie Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Kissimmee, Fla., Daniel J. Lajoie and his wife Judy, of Sheldon, Vt., Deborah J. Allen and her husband James, of Plaistow, N.H., Jacqueline Thibault and her husband, Rene, of Chester, N.H., Janice Fowler and her husband Robert, of Derry, N.H., Suzanne Rosario and her husband Angel of Lempster, N.H., Carol St. Pierre and her husband Steven of Hampstead, N.H., Michelle Jamieson and her husband Steven of Billerica., and Jennifer Clough and her husband Timothy of Plaistow, N.H.. step-daughters, Raelene (Florent) Cote and her husband David of Nashua, N.H., and Rachel (Florent) Custeau and her husband David of Plaistow, N.H. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Lajoie, Salem, N.H. sisters, Lorraine Rossetti of Haverhill, Theresa Battis of Springvale, Maine., Peggy (Palmeri) Mikesell of, Florida, and Helen Powell of North Chelmsford. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather to his surviving nine children, two step-children, 27 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. He also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His step grandson, Pate L. Cote, died on the same day.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill.
