Lillian L. “Gerry” (Berube) Corthell, 92, of Haverhill, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover, after a lengthy illness.Born in Nashua, N.H., she was the daughter of the late, Joseph and Aimee (Sylvester) Berube. She was a graduate of Presentation of Mary Grammar School and High School in Hudson, N.H. Mrs. Corthell was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Visiting Nurse Association for many years, retiring in 1995.She was previously employed by Community Action Head Start program as a bus monitor, she worked in the mail room at the I.R.S. in Andover, and as a ticket clerk for the MVRTA, in downtown Haverhill. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, along with raising five of her own children, she also raised numerous foster children. She loved nothing more than taking care of her family and her precious animals.The widow of Donald E. Corthell Sr. who died in 1983, she leaves a son and his wife, Donald E. Jr. and Debbie, of Lakewood, Colo. three daughters, Donna Lee Corthell, of Haverhill, Debra Hollenbeck and her husband Darrell, of Atkinson, N.H., and Dale C. Jackson, of Haverhill 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jean LinScott a grandson, William E. Ammells and brother, Joseph “Butch” Berube.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 main St. (Route 125), Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Mill Street, Haverhill.
