Reading – David C. Pratt, 82, of Reading, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Raised in Melrose, he was the son of the late Chester and Pauline (Stephan) Pratt. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Catherine (Cole) Pratt in 2006. He is survived by his children, Philip Pratt and his wife Betsy of Groton, Daniel Pratt and his wife Susanna of Marblehead, and Mary L. Tolosko and her husband Cory of Haverhill. He was the grandfather of Molly, Henry, Sally, William, Benjamin, and Emily Pratt. He is also survived by his sister Janet Phillips of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.Mr. Pratt was a graduate of Melrose High School and DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. After graduation from college in 1953, he proudly served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years. Mr. Pratt spent his career working in the insurance industry. He was a member of Old South United Methodist Church in Reading for over 50 years. Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00 AM in Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell St., Methuen.
