Andover – Philip A. Nardone, Sr. 80, of Andover, passed away, November 23, 2013 surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital after a brief illness.Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late, Michael &amp Philomena (Cantiola) Nardone. Raised and educated in Lawrence, he was a graduate of CentralCatholicHigh School, class of 1951. An outstanding athlete, he lettered in all sports leading to a football scholarship from VillanovaUniversity. Rather, Mr. Nardone enlisted in the Army, serving in the Korean War until 1955.Shortly thereafter, Mr. Nardone married the love of his life, Carol A. DelliColli on June 26, 1955 and began a life together that would last the next 58 years.Mr. Nardone had an entrepreneurial spirit moving successfully from one business venture to the next. As a young man he and his father started Nardone &amp Sons Oil Company. After several decades, he established Nardone Realty, focusing on residential and commercial real estate ventures throughout the MerrimackValley. He was a life-long member of the Andover community, and after his retirement volunteered his time at the AndoverSeniorCenter.Mr. Nardone had four passions in his life Family Religion, Gardening, and Golf. He raised and loved his five children and held a special place in his heart for each of them. As the Nardone family grew he was there every step of the way cheering a child or grandchild on in every endeavor. His proudest moments were spent at the family beach house for a weekend of relaxation capped off with a Sunday meal! A life-long member of the St. Augustine’s Parish in Andover, he could be found weekly at the 4:00 p.m. Saturday mass. He was an avid golfer competing in many local tournaments and a member at several clubs in MerrimackValley and Sarasota, FL (where the family had a home for many years). His love of gardening began as a young boy surrounded by his extended family learning tips from “the old country.” He passed many of them onto his children and grandchildren and would spend hours of his time with his wife cultivating the fruits of his labor Carol focused on flowers, Phil focused on vegetables &amp fruit.The widower of Carol A. (DelliColli) Nardone, who died January 24, 2013, he leaves three sons Philip A. Nardone Jr, and his partner Scott Peltier, of Boston and Nantucket, David M. Nardone and his wife, Terra, of Windham, NH, and Mark C. Nardone and his wife, Erin, of Andover, two daughters Doreen M. Powell, and her husband, Nelson M. Powell III, of Tampa, FL, and Gayle M. Nardone-Faro and her partner, Dennis A. Comeau, of Wakefield, seven cherished grandchildren: Lindsay Faro, Tre Nardone, Christopher Nardone, Mark Nardone, Rachel Nardone, Nico Nardone, and Sofia Nardone, a sister, Geraldine Fusco and her husband, Jack, of Methuen, a brother Michael of Ridgefield, CT, and several nieces and nephews and cousins throughout the Merrimack Valley.The family will greet friends and relatives at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, in St. Augustine’s Church, 43 Essex St., Andover, followed by a Funeral Mass at 5:30 p.m. At the request of the family, the burial will be private.
