Haverhill – Joseph N. Mellor, 65, of Haverhill, formerly of Somerville, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late, James and Agnes (Noonan) Mellor. He attended Somerville public schools and Somerville High School. A U. S. Navy Veteran, he proudly served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.Mr. Mellor was employed as a Cab driver for the Green Cab Company in Somerville, retiring in 2004. An avid reader, he enjoyed day trips to the mountains, and spending time with his grandchildren.A loving father and grandfather, Mr. Mellor was predeceased by his longtime partner, Linda Carney, who died in 2011. He leaves his children, Meghan L. Carney, of Haverhill, Carly Carney, of Cambridge, and Robert Carney, of Charlestown, grandchildren, Anthony Thompson, Alexia Thompson, Sky Stefanelli, Steven Stefanelli Jr, Aryana Carney, and Cameron Carney, a great grandchild, Ava Jacobs, siblings, Ellen Walker, of Plymouth, John Mellor, of Salem, NH, Roberta Perry, of Raynham, William Mellor, of Manchester, NH, Shirley Mellor, of Lawrence, Claire Conlon, of Everett, Paul Mellor, of Wakefield, and Joanne Burke, of Reading, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David M. Mellor, and brother, James Mellor.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service on Friday evening at 7:00 PM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte. 125) Haverhill. A period of visitation will be held prior to the service from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial is private.
