Fremont, NH – Howard “Howie” R. Coombs, 58, of Fremont, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. Born in Newburyport, MA he was the son of the late Howard R. Sr. and Sylvia P. (Bragg) Coombs of Kingston, NH.Raised and educated in Amesbury, MA. He was a graduate of Amesbury High school, class of 1975. Mr. Coombs was employed as a custodian throughout the Timberlane School District and most recently the Pollard School in Plaistow, NH where he touched the lives of many children who attended the school and they touched his. He was an avid Boston Bruins and Patriots fan. Howie was a classic race car enthusiast and enjoyed attending local car shows with his son. He was a member of the Star Car Club, and looked forward to bringing his vintage restored Chevy Coupe to the Pine’s Speedway Reunion in Groveland, MA, where it originally raced. Howie is known for his generosity and kindness to everyone who knew him and loved him. He was always there to help when anyone needed a hand and will be deeply missed.A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, he leaves his beloved wife of twenty-seven years, Sheila (Souther) Coombs, and son, Matthew H. Coombs, both of Fremont, NH a brother, Timothy A. Coombs, of Kingston, NH, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard W. Coombs.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill, MA.
