Haverhill – Doris I. (Torrey) Stevens, 82, of Plaistow, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at the Wingate at Haverhill nursing Home.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Carl M. and Alice I. (MacNeil) Torrey. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she attended Haverhill High School. She later relocated to Plaistow with her daughter.Mrs. Stevens was employed as a Nurses Aide, working for the City of Haverhill at the former Glynn Memorial Hospital for over thirty three years, retiring in 2001.Having an adventurous spirit, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, and day trips to the Plum Island beach. She cherished her travel vacations with her sisters. She was an avid football and wrestling fan.She leaves a son, Paul Stevens, of New York, two daughters, Rhonda Zarbolias and her husband, David, of Plaistow, and Colleen Smith and her husband, Timothy, of Haverhill. One of thirteen children, she leaves her siblings Gregory Torrey, of VT, Alice Wilkinson, of Ware, MA, Evelyn Allen, of Haverhill, Ruth Sparks, of Bradford, Peggy Paquette, of Hampstead, and Marion Sargent, of Maine, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carlton, Charles, David, Jack, and Herbert Torrey.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. A graveside service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 AM in Walnut Cemetery, Kenoza St. Haverhill.
