Eleanor Canney

Haverhill – Eleanor C. (Roberts) Canney, 95, wife of the late Augustus S. “Gus” Canney, passed away on Friday, January 22^nd at her home surrounded by her loving family.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Catherine (Murphy) Roberts. She attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1938. Eleanor was employed by the Haverhill Public School system working in the cafeteria. She most enjoyed spending time entertaining her friends and family around her kitchen table, where you could always drop in for a cup of tea and something sweet. She will be missed by all who knew her.Eleanor is survived by her children, Philip W. Canney and his wife Cathy (Fowler) of Kensington, NH Douglas A. Canney and his wife Ruth A. (Constantine) of Epson, NH and Susan E. McMahon and her husband Christopher of Hampstead, NH her sister, Margaret “Peg” Eason of Haverhill her brother, John Roberts and his wife Arline, of Haverhill and sisters-in-law Priscilla Roberts of Groveland and Gail Roberts of Las Vegas and daughter in law Janet Canney. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Mark Canney, Caroline Canney, Rhonda Murphy and her husband Scott, Aiden McMahon and his wife Katherine, Graeson McMahon and Emma McMahon, and Peter Lenane three great-grandchildren, Jessica Perry and her husband Chris of Hawaii, and Caitlyn and Addison Murphy as well as two great-great grandchildren, Liliana and Genevieve Perry. In addition to her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Saulnier and brothers, Arthur, Joseph, Edmund, and William Roberts.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, January 30, from 10:00 AM until 12:30PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 12:30PM in the funeral home. Burial is private.
