Haverhill – Joan F. (Aherne) Vlahos, 83, wife of the late Peter C. Vlahos, passed away Monday, July 11 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Lucy E. (Vadeboncoeur) Aherne. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1950. Joan was employed as a salesperson in Haverhill for various distributors including Treasure House Inc. She was a home party planner, similar to Mary Kay, selling gifts, toys and jewelry. She loved tending her garden and cooking for her family and friends. Joan was a talented dancer and enjoyed going out to dance with her husband. An avid walker, she walked daily for three miles before it was fashionable. Her most treasured moments were spent with family, especially with her loving grandchildren.Joan is survived by her two sons, William A. Vlahos and Charles M. Vlahos, both of Haverhill her five cherished grandchildren, William A. Vlahos and his wife Story of Salem, NH Daniel C. Vlahos and his wife Meredith of Boston Gregory M. Vlahos and his wife Jacquie of Bradford Jeffrey P. Vlahos of Boston and Peter R. Vlahos of Haverhill four great grandchildren, Jaxson, Evelyn, Miles and Corinne Vlahos her sister in law, Aspacia “Honey” Girard of Plaistow, NH and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter in law Debra E. (Coco) Vlahos.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, July 13 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:00AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
