Haverhill – Albert J. Comeau, 83, husband of the late Mary Yvonne (MacIsaac) Comeau, passed away on Monday, July 11 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Mary L. (Blinn) Comeau. Raised and educated in Haverhill he attended St. Joseph Grammar School and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1951. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. A Korean War veteran he was honorably discharged in 1956. He married the love of his life in 1958 and they raised seven children in Haverhill. Albert began his career at the Western Electric in North Andover as a machinist and 34 years later retired from Lucent Technologies. He enjoyed keeping up with current events, especially sports. He was an avid Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots fan. He loved to play cards and his game of choice was 45, also playing cribbage. He enjoyed his frequent trips to Foxwoods. Albert was a daily walker for many years. Albert traveled with his wife for many years visiting Nova Scotia as well as the United States. A man of strong faith, he was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church. He was known for his smile, his friendly demeanor, his honesty, humor and work ethic.Surviving him are his children, Paula A. Gallant and her husband Eric J. of Haverhill Elaine M. Comeau of Haverhill Mary E. Mottram and her husband Stephen A. of Haverhill Noreen C. Batal and her husband J. Michael of Plaistow, NH Robert J. Comeau and his wife Laureta of Boston Laurie S. Herchenroder and her husband Michael J. of Plaistow, NH and David A. Comeau of Woodbridge, VA thirteen cherished grandchildren, Michael and Kevin Gallant, Stephen and Jacob Mottram, Matthew and Joseph Batal, Rezart and Sara Comeau, Kirsten, Lauren and Mikey Herchenroder, Daniel Peterson and Dylan Comeau a brother, Philip Comeau and his wife Karlene of Hampton, NH and sister Lorraine Rouse and her husband John of Tacoma, WA a sister in law, Roberta Comeau of Haverhill and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Edward Comeau and sisters, Louise Walsh and Esther Tannian.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 14 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 9:00AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill.
