Adolphe E. “Ernie” Vallieres, 88, of Cape Coral, formerly of Lowell and Haverhill, died Thursday, December 22, at the Hospice house at Health Park, in Fort Myers, Florida.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Wilfrid and Ernestine E. (Fontaine) Vallieres. He was a Graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School, Class of 1938, and a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1942. As a young man in St. Joseph’s Parish, he was proud to be the first Eagle Scout of Troop #27.Upon graduation, Mr. Vallieres proudly entered into the U. S. Navy to serve his country and rose to the rank of Chief Yeoman, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and Good Conduct MedalIn October of 1948 he married the love of his life, Yvette H. (Martin). Together they raised their family in Haverhill. For over thirty-one years, “Ernie” was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He was first a clerk, a carrier, and became a supervisor in the Haverhill Post Office, and retired in 1985. He also dabbled in Real Estate, earning his Brokers License and worked in that field for over twenty years.Along with his beloved wife of sixty-three years, he leaves, his children, Theresa J. Bickford, of Cape Coral, FL, with whom he lived, William E. and his wife, Maureen Vallieres, of Derry, NH, Rene N. and his wife, Liza Vallieres, of Miami, FL, Marc V. and his wife, Susan Vallieres, of Newbury, NH, Michael and his wife, Maureen Vallieres, of Haverhill, and Anne E. and her husband, John Koch, of West Edmeston, NY, 12 grandchildren: Matthew and Christoper Bickford Peter, Laura Barchard, Thomas, and Theresa Anne Vallieres Bryan Vallieres Kathryn Seaver and Allyson Vallieres Joseph, Antoninia, and Alexey Koch and 5 great-grandchildren Madison and Grace Bickford Jackson Seaver Mason and Tonya Marie Barchard a sister, Teresa Welch, of Haverhill, and many nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his sisters, Helene Staples Rogers and Gloria DeRoche and his brothers, Paul, Joseph, and Lucien Vallieres.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, from 4 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12 NOON in All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave. with Military Honors. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph’s School, Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832.
