Haverhill – Brian David White, 45, of Bloomfield, New York, formerly of Haverhill, died, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of John P. White Jr. and Karen J. Merrick, and stepson of Laura J. (Officer) White. Educated in Haverhill, he attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Whittier Regional Vo-Tech High School, class of 1988.Brian was a man of many talents and lived life as if every day was his last, he was a survivor. Twenty two years ago as a young man he was paralyzed from his mid core down from a motorcycle accident. Previously he was employed in the construction trades as a mason. After a long rehab, he began his new life with vigor he trained endlessly and became a competitor in the Boston Marathon wheelchair division. He competed well in many marathons, and was awarded the Massachusetts Athlete of the Year by then Governor Paul Cellucci. Brian was a true inspiration to all of his friends and family and will be sorely missed. He leaves his mother with whom he lived, Karen J. Merrick, of Bloomfield, NY, his father and stepmother, John P. “Jack” and Laura J. White, of Haverhill, a son, Derek J. White and his wife, Jenny, of Seabrook, NH, a daughter, Brooke A. White, of Hampstead, NH, a brother, John P. White III, also of Haverhill, two grandchildren, Julian J. White, and Abigail M. White, and two nieces, Alexandra M. White, and Melody R. White, and loving aunts and uncles and extended family.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service for Brian on Saturday, April 26, at 12:00 PM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 AM until Noon. Burial will follow at Hilldale Cemetery, Hilldale Ave., Haverhill.
