Haverhill-Debra E. (Coco) Vlahos, 59, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 31, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, after a courageous eight month battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of Albert and Priscilla H. (Clevesy) Coco. She attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1974. She then attended Northern Essex Community College and studied early childhood education.Mrs. Vlahos was a woman of many talents along with raising four loving boys, and fulltime homemaker, she was nothing short of amazing when it came to juggling family, community, and career. A lifetime, active member of the First Baptist Church, she started singing in the choir at a young age. As a young lady she enjoyed being involved in the performing arts. She worked in and on various local productions and loved attending theater in Boston, New York, and Las Vegas. She began teaching as a Sunday School Teacher and also taught kindergarten at the church. Continuing as a Sunday School Teacher for twenty-five years, she then began her professional career in the Banking Industry. She would start for the Family Mutual Bank and stayed with the transition to the T.D. Bank working at the downtown Haverhill location for over twenty years as a Teller and Customer service Representative. She served on the Board of Christian Education at the First Baptist Church and also served as treasurer for the Haverhill Female Benevolent Society.A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she leaves her beloved high school sweetheart and husband of forty years, Charles M. Vlahos, four loving sons William A. Vlahos and his wife, Story, of Salem, NH, Daniel C. Vlahos and his wife, Meredeth McGowan, of Boston, Gregory M. Vlahos, and his wife, Jacqueline, of Groveland, and Jeffrey P. Vlahos, of Boston, two cherished grandchildren, Evelyn and Miles Vlahos, her parents Albert and Priscilla Coco, of Haverhill, a brother, David A. Coco and his significant other, Frances Auburn, of Methuen, a sister Janice L. Goldstein and her husband, Mark, of Wappingers Falls, NY, mother in law, Mrs. Peter C. Vlahos, of Haverhill, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday, April 2, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 217 Main St. Haverhill. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, Mill St. Haverhill.
