Edith Landeck

Haverhill – Edith Mary (Homan) Landeck, 99, a lifelong resident of Haverhill passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Hannah Duston Health Care Center.Born in Haverhill on May 8, 1915, Edith was the daughter of William B. and Laura (Dodier) Homan. She was the wife of the late Raymond Clayton Landeck and David L. Lawrence. She attended Haverhill public schools and was employed in the local shoe manufacturing and food service industries. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and was thrilled to see the team finally win the World Series in her lifetime. Edith was affiliated with St. Joseph, St. James, and Sacred Heart parishes and was a member of the Third Order of Mary. She was a woman of faith and believed that she was put on this earth to make life easier for those she came in contact with. And her acts of generosity, thoughtfulness, and unquestioning love are evidence of that mission.A devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt, she leaves two loving daughters, Sandra M. Lawrence and spouse Alix Gordon of Medford, and Elaine M. Bixby of Haverhill. She also leaves a loving grand-daughter, Christina Lambroukos and finance Nick Demakes of Lynn. Edith had a special relationship with several nieces and nephews including, Barbara Zins and Carol Zins, of Ware, Laura Holland and husband Ed DesRoche of Atkinson, Richard Donovan and wife Sandy of Garland, ME, Mary Carlson of Groveland, Pauline Poor of Haverhill, and Diane Rose of Deltona, FL. Edith was also an unofficial mother to friends and children of friends including her dear friend the late Isabel Dufresne and children Lawrence Dufresne of Methuen and Mary Foley of Haverhill Lydia Capano of Medford, and Kelly Norris of New Hampshire. During her 10 years at Hannah Duston Health Care Center where she was treated with kindness and dignity, she formed caring relationships with a wide range of staff, residents, and the families of residents especially her roommate of 9 years, Eileen Balzar and her family. All who came to know her valued her positive attitude, genuine concern, feisty demeanor, and humorous, upbeat approach to life. Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill.
