Edmund J. Chernesky, of Auburn, MA, formerly of Haverhill, died Sunday, October 30, at his home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Joseph and Rose (Kiarsis) Chernesky. Educated in Haverhill Public Schools, he was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1952.Mr. Chernesky was employed as the Head Custodian of Environmental Services in the Bagnall School in Groveland for over twenty years. He was loved by students and teachers alike.He was a sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and Giants. In his younger days, he played softball in the local leagues. He loved animals, and was an avid gardener, spending hours working in his yard.He leaves his beloved wife of twenty years, Susan M. (Fortin) Chernesky, of Auburn, a son Edmund P. “Mickey” Chernesky and his wife, Pamela, of Houlton, ME, two daughters, Dona Cunningham, of Bradford, and Gail Cunningham and her husband, William “B.J.”, of Haverhill, grandchildren, Melissa, Edmund, Dustin, Guilia, and Hope Chernesky, Bryant Griffin, Brandy and Shawn Colarusso, Blaise Cunningham, Raina and Rowdy Burke, Miranda Thistlewood and her partner, Larn Lawler, and Allison and Wayne Simpson, great grandchildren, Blake, Ethan, and Adriana Colarusso, Isabella Ayan, Tyler and Logan Thisltewood, Samuel and Benjamin Lawler, and Mashayla, and Jacob Simpson, two brothers, Daniel J. Chernesky and his wife, Lillian, and Edward P. Chernesky, and his wife, Karen, and a sister, Elinor J. Chernesky, all of Haverhill. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.Friends and family are respectfully to call on Tuesday, November 1, from 5 until 8 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Bradford. Memorial donations may be made to the M.S.P.C.A.
