Edwin Glover

Edwin R. Glover, 91, of Haverhill, formerly of Lynn, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at Penacook Place Nursing Home after a brief period of declining health.Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Clarence P. and Bertha (Hancock) Glover. He attended Chelsea Public Schools and Chelsea High School. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons.A hard working, devoted family man, he was employed as a pipefitter at the Charlestown Navy Yard. When Charlestown closed he transferred to the Portsmouth Navy Yard and retired in 1979. He enjoyed nothing more than to pack up the family and some friends for camping excursions to the mountains. He cherished the natural beauty of New England and getting away from the city.Known for his tremendous sense of humor, he always left you with a smile on your face.The widower of Ruth L. (Wickson) who died in 1976, he leaves four sons and their wives, Richard and Carol Glover of Pea, S.D., Harry and Peggy Glover of Plaistow, N.H., Edwin “Scott” and Ann Glover of Lynn, Joseph Glover of Saugus, a daughter, Patricia Love and her husband Ronald of Pepperell, grandchildren, Myra, Michael, Jeffrey, Joseph, Scott, and Alicia Glover, Heather Love, Michelle Roberts, Timothy Casey, Michael and John Zenglowski, Donald and Colleen Sewell, and Lacey Harris.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family may call today (Friday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Route 125, Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Reverend Jane Bearden officiating.
