Haverhill – Florence M. (Andrews) LaPlante, died Sunday, December 22, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She has been blessedly reunited with Harold, her husband of sixty-seven years, who died December 20, 2010. Born in Lawrence, June 22, 1922 to Harold and Clara (Dube) Andrews, she is survived by several brothers and a sister. She was educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. A World War II Veteran, Florence proudly served her country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. A Western Electric retiree, she was a member of CWA/RMC 1365. Florence was a skilled seatweaver at Pentucket Furniture Restoration, where she restored client’s family treasures for more than twenty-five years.When younger, she traveled with Harold and friends to many places in this country, including, Hawaii, and to Canada, Bermuda, and Aruba. She was an avid line dancer for more than thirty years and danced her last dance with friends at the Haverhill Citizens Center less than three weeks ago.Surviving Florence are her son, Harold “Bud” LaPlante and his wife Steff their children, Jessica and her husband, Dan Mallon, and their children and Mitchell Potts and his children. Also, daughters Donna and her husband, Bud Lecuyer, and Dot LaPlante. She will especially be missed by Donna’s daughters Dawn and her husband Todd Lavely and their children, and Darlene and her husband, Glen Baker and their children. There was a special bond between Flo and her granddaughters that will never be broken.The family thanks her physician, Dr. Lydia Zuser for her skilled compassionate care. Special thanks go to her best friend Helen Tracy and to the staff at Sarah’s place for sharing their laughter and their love with Flo over the last three years. A private graveside service with military honors for Harold and Florence will be held in April, 2014 under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill.
