Frances (Ryan) Fahy, 77, of Haverhill, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken ill suddenly at home.Born in Rochester, NH, she was the daughter of the late, Herbert L. and Mary Ann (O’Sullivan) Ryan. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a Graduate of both, St. James Grammar and St. James High School, Class of 1952. Continuing her education, Frances attended Lowell State Teachers College and earned her Masters Degree.Mrs. Fahy, was employed in the Haverhill Public School system for thirty-years. She was the head teacher at the Smiley School, and later the head teacher at the Cogswell School in Bradford for over twenty years, until the school’s closing and her retirement in 1999.Frances married the love of her life, and shared fifty-four years with her husband, Neal. She shared her passion for the beach with her entire family, and for twenty-two years she and Neal enjoyed traveling and vacationing to Jamaica during winter breaks. The consummate educator, she was always attending to the needs of others. Frances enjoyed going out to lunch with friends and family and the inevitable shopping that followed. She loved her Victorian home, where everyone could be heard singing around the player piano at Christmas time. Her children and grandchildren were her life.She leaves her beloved husband, Neal P. Fahy, of Haverhill, two sons, Bryan P. Fahy, and his wife, Patricia, of Hampton Beach, NH, and Donal B. Fahy, of Haverhill, two daughters, Maura F., and her husband, Charles “Chip” Bailey, and Ellen F., and her husband, David L. Wood, all of Bradford, five cherished grandchildren, Charles, John, and Dallas Bailey, and Clint and Kyle Wood, two brothers, William H. Ryan, and his wife Maureen, of Haverhill, and Frank C. Ryan, of Ellsworth, ME, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Goudreault.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday, February 10, from 4 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill.
