Lena Conte

Haverhill – Lena Ann (Ferullo) Conte, 84, wife of Frank P. Conte, passed away on Tuesday, May 10 at the Wingate Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lena (Sameas) Ferullo. She moved to Haverhill with her family in 1945 and attended Haverhill High School, Class of 1949. She was a clerk at the Haverhill Firefighters Credit Union for many years. She was lovingly known as “Meme” to her family and was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. With her strong faith guiding her she always put her family first. Sunday dinner was very important to her and she enjoyed having all her family attending.She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband of over 62 years, she is survived by her daughter in law, Terri M. Schena of Haverhill and was predeceased by her son Frederick J. Conte who she was devoted to four grandchildren, Eric Conte and his wife Meredith Angela Conte-Iannalfo and Dana Iannalfo R.J. Schena and his wife Julie Jarod Schena and his wife Brooke six great grandchildren, Ava, Ali, Freddie, Gabby, Piper and Cooper three sisters, Rita Ferullo of Haverhill Jeannie Comeau of FL and Ruth Merrick of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dearest friend, Joanie Kennedy. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph Ferullo and her sister Elizabeth Vandehendem. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, May 12 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 9:00AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to Wingate Activity Fund, 190 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
