May B. (Keefe) Costello, 99, a longtime resident of Haverhill and beloved wife of the late, John T. Costello, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, December 28, at the Baker-Katz Healthcare and Rehab Center after a brief illness.Born in Lawrence, June 18, 1912, she was the daughter of the late, John J. and Bernadette (Veaudreil) Keefe. She was educated in the Lawrence schools. Soon after Graduation she married and moved to Haverhill where she worked and raised her family. After working at Pentucket Bank for seventeen years, she retired as Secretary to the president in 1977. She and her husband John spent many happy winters in New Port Richey, FL.May’s happiest times were spent at home, hosting family gatherings, where she served great food, laughter, and much love. She was an avid fan of the New England sports teams. She enjoyed the game of golf with her husband, as they were members of the Haverhill Country Club.May is survived by her three children, Joan M. Costello, of Haverhill, John T. Costello, and his wife, Clare, of Seabrook Beach, NH, and James E. Costello, and his wife, Elaine, of Lawrence, three cherished grandchildren, Kevin James, and Jack Costello, two great-grandchildren, Emily Costello, and Kyle Costello, a sister in law, Helen Checovich, of Seabrook Beach, NH, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William, James, and John Keefe.May at 99-1/2 did it her way! Loved by all…she will be missed.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday from 5 until 8 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill.
