Michael Mancini Jr., 73, of Haverhill, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Michael and Agnes (O’Toole) Mancini. As a young child his family relocated to Haverhill where he attended St. James Grammar School and was a 1954 Graduate of Haverhill Trade School. Upon graduation Mr. Mancini enlisted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for the next three years.He was a member of St. James Parish, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Christ the King Council 5004, where he rose to the rank of a 4th Degree Knight, he served as the council’s Grand Knight, and held many offices during his tireless tenure.He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. A draftsman by trade, he was employed in the CAD Department at the former Western Electric Co., North Andover and retired in 1992 from Lucent after 32 years. He felt he was blessed to retire at a young age and enjoyed every minute he had to spend with his family.He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Joanne (Pappalardo) Mancini of Haverhill three sons and their wives, Michael P. and Kathleen M. of Westford, Joseph M. and Deborah of Manchester, N.H., Patrick and Sally of Salem, N.H. six cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Shawn, Thomas, Bianca, Monica and Julia a brother and sister-in-law, John and Gloria of Oakridge, Md. and nieces and nephews.ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours were held Friday, May 22, at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services are today at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill.
