Richard F. “Dick” Warner, 86, retired Haverhill Firefighter, of Danville, NH, formerly of Haverhill, died Monday, March 12, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, George L. and Eva (Charron) Warner. Educated in Haverhill, he attended public schools and Haverhill High School. He left Haverhill to work for the American Aircraft Corp, in East Hartford, CT, and was drafted into service shortly thereafter.A WWII U.S. Army Veteran, Corporal Warner was cited for heroism for his action taken in Germany on V-E Day. A Silver Star Medal recipient, other medals include, the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.Dick continued to serve for the rest of his life, for his family, his community, and his country. He was employed as a firefighter for the City of Haverhill and was proud to be of service to its citizens. He was a member of Kiwanis International. He loved the outdoors in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and cruising around. His time spent with his family and friends were the times he cherished most.He leaves his beloved wife of sixty- five years, Arlene (Morgan) Warner, of Danville, a son Richard F. “Rick” Warner Jr, of Center Barnstead, NH, three cherished grandchildren, Richard F. “Ricky” III, and Jonathan L. Warner, also of Center Barnstead, and Erin M. Drislane, and her husband, David, of Danville, NH, three great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Emily, and Abrielle Drislane, a brother, Robert Warner and his wife Grace, of Haverhill, sisters, Joanne Corthell, of Haverhill, Dorothy Jackson and Sandy Gray, both of RI, several nieces and nephews and sister in law, Jean Rheaume, of Sandown, NH. He was predeceased by his siblings, George Warner, and Eleanor Brandolini.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend funeral services for Dick at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Calling hours will take place prior to the services from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St. Lawrence, MA 01843.
